The youngest woman to climb Mt Everest

Dicky Dolma from India, is the the youngest woman in the world to climb Mt Everest in 1993 at the age of 19


          Dolma is from the Palchan village, near Manali, Himachal Pradesh in India. Dolma's world record as the youngest woman summiteer of Everest was set on May 10, 1993, when she reached Everest as a member of the Indo-Nepal Women's Everest Expedition. The expedition was led by Bachendri Pal, a record holder as the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest. 

          After Dolma completed the skiing courses in Manali Institute, she underwent the Basic Mountaineering Course. The Institute then recommended her for the Pre-Everest Women's Expedition. 

          As a champion skier, Dolma won several medals in the National and Asian Winter games. Dolma's achievements have made a ripple effect on the community.
